2021 is here, and there is no shortage of interesting announcements! Some of you reading this article in specific may not know me. My name is Jason Silvestri, and I develop sophisticated web applications, software and mobile experiences for some of the best Fortune 500-5000 & startup brands in the business including, Toppler™, TripAdvisor, Dassault Systemes, Princess House, OpSec Security, NHL, NFL, Rovio (makers of Angry Birds), MIT Sloan, Harvard Business School, Invacare Supply Group, Zeta Interactive, Citizen Watch, Allergan (the makers of BOTOX™), American Family, Liberty Mutual, Subaru, STIHL, Cambridge Savings Bank, Union Bank, 21st Century Business & Life Cycle Solutions. I have over 40 different web technologies, IDEs & Graphic/video designers under my belt, but I tend to only preach about my primary, current, strengths, which range from HTML5, CSS, C#, WebForms & MVC, Ajax, Bootstrap, Entity Framework, SQL Server, jQuery & now AngularJS, to multi-threaded applications, SasS, Ajax, JSON, Web Services & Web API. Conversely, I am open to working with the technologies of a business, as-long-as the technologies make sense and that I am given the time necessary to acclimate myself to the solution stack in use. Lastly, my field experience is in the Aerospace & Defense, Anti-counterfeiting, Finance, Retail, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare & Medical Devices, Higher Education, PLM, Manufacturing, Social Media & Mainstream Media industry sectors.
Where I have been slacking, and where I want my brand to venture into more, are the Woman Owned, Women’s Clothing, Footwear & Apparel, Fashion & Retail industry sectors. Why Woman Owned? For a few reasons:
Did you know that a team with a woman in charge can drive more success? According to a study done by First Round Capital, found by Business Insider, after examining a decade's worth of data from 300 portfolio companies, First Round Capital learned that startup teams with at least one female founder performed 63 percent better than all male teams. I have a lot of faith in that figure, because I have often-times worked best with Creative Design and UX Design team’s where women were in charge. Things are more a matter-of-fact, there is no second-guessing on a wireframe or creative design, and the master plan is generally more organized. As a man working with other men, an idea goes around the room 20 times before a big decision tends to be made involving the same task.
My late mother was a huge woman’s rights advocate. As a reporter for a decade and a half, she taught me to believe in people, and goals, and how bad things can be for a woman doing the same thing as a man. COVID-19 brought a whole new collections of concerns to these businesss too. You see a lot about the 1st responders, the bar tenders, and sure retail as a whole. Conversely, very little requests coming from this industry are heard, and it is time we start thinking about all the businesses suffering right now.
It’s time. Women all around the world are becoming in control with the latest fashion and clothing, and quite frankly should be. I look forward to the huge possibilities that can come from teaming up with woman owned businesses cross country.
